You should've been here yesterday No.2: The Duke brings surfing to Australia.

thewhale was fortunate enough to spend a year living in Manly Beach, Sydney Australia. It was here that thewhale cut its teeth at surfing. More realistically it was a year of getting nailed in some pretty pumping, turn of the millennium, Aussie swell.

thewhale's preferred break was in fact Freshwater. As it transpired, over my time there, this was the very place that The Duke performed the first demonstration of surfing in Australia. The Aussies already had a pretty solid beach and lifesaving culture by then, but it was The Duke who showed them stand up surfing Hawaiian style.

Respect to The Duke and to the Aussies, who took it all much further once they had learnt the art!
